Scholarships

Each year, University Housing Services recognizes the contributions of outstanding student leaders through the various award and scholarship opportunities outlined below.

 

  • The Flora Thompson & Orson L. Manchester Scholarship

    The Manchester Scholarship is given biennially to an outstanding Manchester resident who has shown superior scholarship, citizenship, leadership, and participation in hall and campus activities. The scholarship award is for no less than $700.00. The Manchester Scholarship is awarded in even-numbered years. The application and selection process typically begins in March.

    Qualifications

    • Applicants must be a current resident of Manchester Hall.
    • Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
    • Applicants must be in good academic and disciplinary standing at Illinois State University
  • Anna L. Keaton Memorial Scholarship

    The Keaton Scholarship is given biennially to an outstanding undergraduate student leader who has demonstrated leadership, scholarship, citizenship, and active participation in residence hall and campus activities. The Keaton Scholarship is awarded in even-numbered years. Applications open in March and the winners are selected in April. The scholarship award is for no less than $350.

    Qualifications

    • Applicants must be an undergraduate student of sophomore or junior standing.
    • Applicants must have attended Illinois State University and resided in a residence hall at least one semester prior to and during the semester of application.
    • Applicants must be in good academic and disciplinary standing.
  • Garrett Van Ausdall Memorial Scholarship

    The Van Ausdall Scholarship is given biennially to an outstanding undergraduate student leader who has demonstrated leadership, scholarship, citizenship, and active participation in residence hall and campus activities. The Van Ausdall Scholarship is awarded in odd-numbered years. Applications open in March and the winners are selected in April. The scholarship award is for no less than $350.

    Qualifications

    • Applicants must be undergraduate students.
    • Applicants must have attended Illinois State University and resided in a residence hall at least one semester prior to and during the semester of application.
    • Applicants must be in good academic and disciplinary standing.
  • Janice A. Auguston Memorial Award

    The Janice A. Augustson Memorial Award is given biennially to an outstanding student currently employed as a graduate assistant, resident assistant, or international assistant. The Augustson Scholarship is awarded in odd-numbered years. Applications open in March and the winners are selected in April. The scholarship award is for no less than $350.

    Qualifications

    • Applicants must be a student at Illinois State University.
    • Applicants must be currently serving as a graduate assistant, resident assistant, or international assistant.
    • Applicants must be in good academic and disciplinary standing.
  • RA/CA Academic Scholarship

    The Resident/Community Assistant Academic Scholarship is an academic scholarship presented to Resident and Community Assistants who exemplify success in the classroom as well as in the RA/CA Leadership role. Up to five $500 academic scholarships will be awarded each semester. Fall scholarship award winners will be announced in December with the award amount applied to the recipients’ university accounts in January, spring scholarship award winners will be announced in May and the award amount applied to the recipients’ university accounts in August.

    Qualifications

    • Applicants must have served as an RACA in University Housing Services at the time of application and award. Nominees must be in good standing within the internship.
    • Applicants must be in good academic and disciplinary standing at Illinois State University.
    • Other considerations will be cumulative grade point average, financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office, performance in the position, letter of support from supervisor, and recommendation from a resident.
  • University Housing Services Employee Scholarship

    The University Housing Services Student Employee Scholarship is given annually to a student employed by University Housing who has demonstrated dependability, efficiency, and excellence in providing quality services. The scholarship award is for no less than $500.

    Qualifications

    • Applicants must be employed by University Housing Services as a student employee at the time of application and award. Nominees may live on or off campus.
    • Applicants must have been employed by University Housing Services for at least two nonconsecutive semesters (summer may be included) at the time of application and returning for the spring semester. Because of this stipulation, the selection committee determines first and second alternates in the event the recipient becomes ineligible (i.e., does not return to his/her position).
    • Applicants must have a current 2.70 or above cumulative grade point average at the time of application.
    • Applicants must be in good academic and disciplinary standing at Illinois State University
